Welcome to the FAQ section of Trusted Interns.
If there is a question that isn’t answered below, please feel free to pop us a mail.
Does it cost anything to create a profile with Trusted Interns?
No, not at all. Creating a profile and applying for jobs is 100% free.
What is Trusted Interns and how does it work?
Trusted Interns is a platform for first-time job-seekers and early-career professionals to explore opportunities and get discovered by employers.
When you sign up, you’ll be prompted to fill out some information about yourself, your education and your past work experience (this shouldn’t take longer than a few minutes). Once complete, you’ll gain access to a jobs board for internships and grad programmes that you can apply for directly.
Employers can also invite you to apply to their positions as they have access to job seekers profiles.
What information should I add to my profile?
Your full name, contact details and details about your education are the most important. If you have a portfolio, especially as a creative, it’s important to include this as well. All other information is secondary but still important. The more information that you make available, the better.
Can everybody see the information I upload onto my profile?
Once you’ve created a profile, registered companies will be able to view your profiles and proactively reach out to you to start a conversation.
Non-registered companies can see a snippet of your profile (your first name plus a few details about your education).
What types of employers are on the Trusted Interns platform?
We have relationships with corporates, startups and agencies across South Africa. We aim to have as much diversity as possible, as each human is different and therefore their ideal workplaces will differ.
How does an employer reach out to me?
If an employer shows interest in your profile, they will have the option to fill out a form attached to your profile. Both you and Trusted Interns will get an email notification. One of our consultants will then get in touch to facilitate a formal introduction.
How much will I earn, should I get accepted for an internship?
It is dependent on the company and what they are able to offer but we encourage and accept the upload of opportunities that offer a minimum stipend of R5k but it could be more.
Do you only work with companies offering opportunities in Cape Town?
No, not at all. We are in the process of extending our reach but we currently work with companies in Cape Town & Johannesburg.
We’re working to grow and build our client database every day.
Do I have to upload a picture?
It’s not mandatory, but research shows that a profile photo can increase your chances of getting hired by up to 14x. That said, we’d suggest shying away from selfies or any photo that may be deemed ‘unprofessional’.
How do I reset my password?
Once you create a profile, you will have access to your personal dashboard. Navigate to account settings, where you will have the option of changing your password. If you’ve forgotten your password and can’t log in, click on the “forgot my password” option. You’ll then be prompted to change your password.
How do I see the status of my applications?
You will be notified by email when you apply for a job. A screening form will then be sent to you, and if you make the shortlist for a position i.e. the interview stage, one of our candidate consultants will also be in touch with you to facilitate and guide you.
Is there a fee associated with hiring an intern through the platform?
Creating an account to post jobs and view the intern database is free. However, we are trying to build a platform that uplifts, and we do charge a placement fee per intern hired.
We have a variety of different packages available relative to the size of your business and the number of interns you are willing to hire.
To view these packages, visit our pricing page here.
How much should I pay my intern?
Intern salaries range from R3500 to about R20 000. This is dependent on a variety of factors.
Our consultants are readily available to advise you should you need any help figuring this out.
Where can I view candidates?
Once you create a company account, you will have access to the interns database. Here you can view active job seekers. Please note that only verified employers get access to view candidates. If you have not registered yet, please do so here.
How do I post a job?
Log into your company profile and click on the “My Account” button in the header menu. In the drop-down menu, click on “Post an internship”. Complete all the relevant information, especially the location and the salary.
How do I remove a job listing?
Should you wish to remove a job for any reason, click on “edit job” and then “remove posting”. The opportunity will then be deleted.
I’ve posted a job but I don’t see it online, where is it?
All submitted jobs are verified by our internal team before being approved and then loaded on to the online platform. We guarantee a turnaround time of 24 hours for verified employers, and 72 hours for non-verified employers as we need to complete thorough reference checks.
How do I reset my password?
Once you create an account, you will have access to your company profile dashboard. Navigate to account settings, where you will have the option of changing your password. If you’ve forgotten your password and can’t log in, click on the “forgot my password” option. You’ll then be prompted to change your password.
How do I reach out to applicants?
If you’re a verified employer, you’ll gain access to viewing the available interns’ database online. Click the “INTERNS” button in the header menu. Once there, browse around and let job seekers know that you’re interested. Trusted Interns will then facilitate a digital meet-up between you and the intern. Interns will also have the opportunity of applying for the jobs that you’ve listed.
Is there a monthly fee to gain access to view candidate profiles?
No, there are no subscription fees. As a registered employer (free), you’ll be able to view all candidates on the platform and post jobs. You will only pay when you hire an intern.
