Job Overview

We are searching for an extraordinary person to manage the communications functions for the company in partnership with our parent company and our external marketing firm. If you are a
creative, unconventional marketing guru and growth hacker who is passionate about startups, corporate innovation, and promoting Africa, then we want to meet you. You must be deeply immersed in the African and Global innovation scene and be passionate about spreading the story of disruption.

We are looking for someone who is self-driven and can reach our target audiences (startups, investors, corporate partners, investors, etc) in new and inspiring ways. In our fast-paced company, everybody wears multiple hats and you must be comfortable working without a specific job description. The high-level requirements include the

  • Own the brand ambassador role across all channels with a consistent voice, high quality
    messaging and compelling visual strategy
  • An understanding of the pan-African innovation ecosystem, entrepreneurship, early stage
    investment, etc.
  • Seamlessly create the glue between SBC and our external agency
  • The ability to combine accuracy with creativity
  • Sharp writing and editing skills
  • Strong abilities to create and amplify our content across various social media and online platforms (press releases, web, blog, social, etc) to many audiences
  • Must have journalistic skills to cover real-time events (conferences, presentations, startup
    pitches, etc.)
  • Savvy research ability
  • Experience creating and managing a varied content calendar for social channels and
  • Experience managing and moderating social media channels reactively (i.e. engaging with
    groups with a consistent voice)
  • Expertise working with analysis and reports tools to assess the effectiveness of campaigns
  • Experience with multimedia content creation
  • Exceptionally driven to complete work of the highest standard 100% of the time
  • Comfortable shifting gears many times in the day
  • Freedom to travel
